Abstract
PT-OPENSCREEN is a nationwide network of chemistry and biology research institutes bridging chemistry-based research areas (organic and medicinal chemistry) and molecular and structural biology. It aims to operate a state-of-the-art infrastructure for basic and applied research in the fields of drug discovery, chemical biology and genetics. Across its partners provides Open Access synthesis of chemical tools and probes, cellular and biochemical assays for screening, as well as hit to lead, lead optimization and follow-up studies. A goal to achieve is to build a library of Portuguese chemical compounds. In addition, it coordinates the participation of Portugal in the Pan‐European ESFRI infrastructure EU‐OPENSCREEN, accessing the European Chemical Biology Library.

Abstract
Water pollution is one of humanity's most important environmental problems. The most pressing issues arise from pharmaceuticals (e.g. diclofenac) due to their persistence in the aquatic environment. This project proposes a solution for the remediation of diclofenac. PVDF photocatalytic membranes will be produced to remove diclofenac as well as validated by ecotoxicity tests. Plasmonic sensors for diclofenac monitoring will also be developed.

Abstract
Conservation policy in river basins still do not account for the geometry of riparian networks, hindering their capacity to sustain adequately regional biodiversity. The RIPARIANET project emerges to provide novel insight for identify resilient floodplain systems. Main goals are: Remotely identify conservation hotspots; Provide a ground-proof quantifying riparian biodiversity and functioning; Translate this novel insight into an assisting tool for floodplain systems for multiple stakeholders.

Abstract
The River2Ocean project aims to develop socio-ecological and biotechnological solutions to promote biodiversity and aquatic ecosystem services in the Minho region, using an integrative approach from the river basins to the coast. This is a pioneer study for the Minho region, where an integrated assessment of biodiversity and habitats from catchment to coast will be performed.

Abstract
This project proposes a bottom-up, holistic approach to develop efficient colloidal nanovectors that can deliver therapeutic RNA for anti-viral treatments. Novel ionizable, cleavable and biocompatible surfactants will be chemically synthesized to create rationally designed formulations, that will be characterized and tested for their capacity to encapsulate/compact different types of RNA. The most promising RNA/nanovectors will then be validated in experimental cell models.(DOI: 10.54499/2022.05543.PTDC)

Abstract
A severe decline on cork oaks has been strongly associated with drought stress conditions. Pathogens and other biotic stresses are described to cause cork oak decline, but their efficiency is far more enhanced in drought stressed trees. The main goal of this project is the identification of fungal endophytes (EF) that can play an effective role on Q. suber forest sustainability in a climate changing scenario.
