Study coordinated by the CBMA finds solution to mitigate Alzheimer’s progression

A study coordinated by the CBMA has discovered an effective method of delivering drugs to the brain that may slow the progression and symptoms of diseases like Alzheimer.

Scientists have developed a non-toxic transporter with the proper size to cross the blood-brain barrier, which protects the brain from harmful substances in the blood and stops 98% of the drugs from passing through.

Andreia Gomes, the coordinator of the study, was on Portuguese television in “Portugal em Direto”  to explain this new method of drug transport to the brain.
