SOCIAL MEDIA FOLLOWERS

We are committed with bridging science and society, aligning scientific excellence with social awareness and bringing the questions and concerns of society to our research, by:

Sharing our scientific achievements to boost scientific literacy and inspire young people to pursue higher education in Biological Sciences.

Fostering the implementation of novel solutions and approaches co-designed and co-implemented with citizens to ensure their societal adoption

Recognizing the significance of transferring knowledge and technology to industry and society, driving innovation and value creation.

Public Engagement

Engaging with the public is at the heart of our mission, and we are committed to promoting the dialogue between scientists and the broader community. By sharing our knowledge and enthusiasm, we can encourage scientific literacy in society and inspire young people to pursue higher education in Biological Sciences. Through visiting exchanges, thematic workshops, Open Days, projects with schools, and events such as the European Researchers’ Night, we aim to inspire curiosity and foster a better comprehension of our research. Open Science

Our commitment to open science ensures that publicly-funded research is accessible to all. By promoting transparency and collaboration, we aim to accelerate scientific discovery and innovation. We adopt initiatives to provide open access to our publications, data, and methodologies, using institutional repositories for data (DataRepositóriUM), communications, papers and theses (RepositóriUM), in addition to publishing most of our findings in Open Access publishers.

Science4Policy

Scientific evidence and close cooperation between science and policy are needed to address today’s major policy challenges, with co-creation being central to Science for Policy 2.0. At CBMA, we promote Science for Policy through various initiatives (such as “Science and Public Policy: How to Build Bridges?”), and many of our works inform policymakers and regulators on best practices or alert to potential environmental risks. We work closely with authorities and regional stakeholders to ensure that scientific discoveries influence policy decisions and bridge the knowledge gap between science and policy.

Media

Our communication strategy uses both traditional and social media to disseminate research, events, and achievements. We maintain regular presence in traditional media through press releases and media coverage, providing timely information about our latest activities and milestones. Our social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, X and LinkedIn) offer real-time updates and interactive engagement. By integrating traditional and social media, we enhance the visibility and accessibility of our research, ensuring that our scientific contributions are widely disseminated and appreciated by diverse audiences.

Knowledge Transfer

The European knowledge valorisation policy calls for diverse societal engagement and the involvement of various actors to ensure that innovation benefits society as a whole. Collaboration is key to innovation. Through our CoLABs (Water-CoRe, Colab4Food, and Vines&Wines) and the IB-S Business Council, we collaborate closely with industry, municipalities and other academic partners, to transfer and value knowledge and technology. Our goal is to translate research into tangible societal benefits. A good example are our filed patents and the launch of a Spin-off (EONGENETICS) for services and innovation in genetics.
