Background
She holds a BSc in Biology (Univ Coimbra), an MSc in Environmental Sciences and a PhD in Freshwater Ecology (UMinho). She is Full Professor, and is currently the Director of CBMA, the co-director of the Institute of Science and Innovation for Bio-Sustainability (IB-S), serves on the ARNET Associate Laboratory board (Aquatic Research Network), and represents UMinho in the WATER-CORE CoLab.
Research Interests
Biodiversity and ecosystem functioning in freshwaters: disentangling the effects of multiple stressors and developing adaptation and mitigation strategies for global change. Attention has been paid to the impacts of emerging contaminants across different levels of biological organization and to the application of molecular tools to assess microbial diversity.
