Abstract

URBAnWat3r tackles the neglected ecological risks posed by (sub)urban stormwater runoff to aquatic ecosystems. Stemming from three pilot areas, URBAnWat3r will integrate chemical, ecological, and ecotoxicological evidence lines, and engage stakeholders to discuss stormwater management practices. To embrace this endeavour, the URBAnWat3r team comprises specialists in aquatic ecology, ecotoxicology, communication, and science education.

Abstract

Objectives of the proposal are: to reduce water consumes in orchards and vineyards adopting sustainable practices; to increase water productivity, yield and fruit quality by optimizing the use of water and regulating the plant water status; to provide a support system to drive water management for woody crops under water scarcity conditions; to improve the sustainability of water management in fruit-growing regions at socio-economic and environmental levels.

Abstract

Green Gap is an initiative aimed at strengthening the role of Local Administration as a means to implement and improve Green Infrastructure in the cross-border region, and to ensure that the Local Administration of the Euroregion plays an active role in promoting green infrastructure at the local level. The project operates in the cross-border region of Galicia and Northern Portugal, including, among other actions, a total of 7 Green Infrastructure pilot projects as demonstration practices. It also aims to protect, conserve, and enhance nature and the elements that make up the green infrastructure in the cross-border area, promoting its planning, contributing to halting biodiversity loss, and enhancing natural ecosystems, the urban environment, and ecosystem services, all at the local scale.
