Yeastdoc is a joint doctoral training progamme made up of 15 partners from 8 european countries.Twelve PhD students will receive training through YEASTDOC that will prepare them for careers as research scientists and leaders in the public or private biotechnology sectors. This will be achieved through collaborative research projects and a dedicated training programme that includes both scientific and commercial skills. Yeasts have been used in traditional biotechnology for production of fermented foods and beverages for thousands of years. They also have traits that make them very attractive for modern biotechnology. Yeast biotechnology products include fermented foods and beverages, feed, biofuels, industrial chemicals, flavours, enzymes, and pharmaceuticals. The scientific aim of the YEASTDOC is to maximize the potential of Saccharomyces and non-Saccharomyces yeasts in the beverage and white biotechnology sectors.
