STOCOOP – Stochastic Dynamics of Cooperation

Cooperation is at the basis of the main evolutionary transitions. Social dilemmas of cooperation have the gift of ubiquity in the global problems that humanity already faces, where as a general rule a small number of representatives are called upon to participate in collective decision-making processes, which accentuates the intrinsically stochastic character of the mathematical description of decision-making processes.

One of the most notable characteristics of this project is that, despite the disparity of topics addressed, the mathematical foundations as well as the respective techniques to be used are largely common and dictated by stochasticity, the temporal dynamics of processes and the propagation of information, and the underlying social dilemmas of cooperation that together provide the glue with which all these seemingly distinct problems are brought together.
