REDEFInE – a multi-scale and multi-tiered toolbox for assessing ecosystem quality of freshwater REservoirs: briDging the gaps of the watEr Framework dIrEctive approach

The REDEFInE project aims to bring old tools to a new use, focusing on the (i) functional and ecotoxicological assessment of reservoirs status and (ii) land use evaluation in the surrounding area of reservoirs, towards a comprehensive assessment of reservoir status integrating functional, ecotoxicological, community, in situ, and standard Water Framework Directive (WFD) data. Such an approach can be adopted as a complementary approach to the current WFD assessment.
