Background
Holds a BSc in Applied Biology, and a PhD in Biological Sciences, with a specialization in Freshwater Ecology (Univ Minho). She completed two postdoctoral fellowships in Freshwater and Marine Ecology. Currently, she is an Assistant Researcher, a position granted by the FCT in the first ed. of the national CEEC Individual contest. She is an integral member of the ME-Barcode group at CBMA and ARNET.
Research Interests
Her research focuses on the description and interpretation of biological diversity in natural aquatic populations exposed to various environmental pressures under global change. She utilizes (e)DNA (meta)barcoding to assist in biodiversity detection and monitoring in aquatic ecosystems, particularly for the early detection and monitoring of non-indigenous and invasive species in coastal ecosystems.
