Background

Janeide Padilha is an invited professor at the University of Minho and a contracted researcher in Environmental Sciences. Her education includes a BSc in Biological Sciences – Zoology from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil (2015), with an exchange year at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain (2012-2013). She completed her MSc (2017) and PhD (2021) in Biophysics at UFRJ, spending 1.5 years on exchange programs in Belgium at the University of Liège (2015-2016, 2019-2020) and the University of Antwerp (2019). Since 2022, she has been a researcher at the Center of Molecular and Environmental Biology, at the University of Minho.

Research Interests

Her research focuses on the impacts of invasive species, pollutants (trace elements, POPs, plastics), and climate change on aquatic biodiversity, ecosystem services, and trophic ecology. She uses interdisciplinary approaches, combining fieldwork, lab analysis, and community ecology to understand and mitigate the effects of environmental stressors on biodiversity and ecosystem services.
