Background
Diana Barros holds a BSc in Applied Biology, a MSc in Molecular Genetics and a PhD in Molecular and Environmental Biology, with a specialization in Evolution, Biodiversity and Ecology (UMinho). She was a Postdoctoral Researcher (2020-2022) contributing to AQUAFIRE and STREAMECO projects (UMinho). She is a member of the ME-Barcode group at CBMA and is currently an Assistant Researcher working on the STOParasites project under the PRR-Blue Bioeconomy (UMinho). Also, since 2009 till nowadays, Diana is an invited Assistant Professor (UMinho).
Research Interests
Diana has been focused on targeting and assessing the impacts of global change and the effects of emerging and persistent contaminants on biodiversity and the functioning of freshwater ecosystems unraveling cellular targets and mechanisms of response by using molecular tools as well as classical methods. Currently, she is focused in optimizing molecular methodologies to track fish parasites, contributing to the sustainable management of marine resources, ensuring impactful applications of molecular tools in real-world challenges.
