ICB – Internal Consulting Board
It includes the Board of Directors and the Director of the Department of Biology to ensure a direct interface between research and teaching activities, a member of the IB-S direction board to ensure alignment between the CBMA and IB-S research and outreach agendas and a representative for PhD students.
Board of Directors
The Board of directors provide oversight and coordination of critical laboratory policies and operations, particularly those associated with laboratory safety and quality management programs. It is composed of one Director, one Deputy director for the Research; one Deputy director for the Advanced Training, one Deputy director for Society and one Deputy director for Laboratory Science and Safety. The Deputy directors guarantee that the CBMA activities are accomplished and the interests of all researchers are equally represented.

SC – Scientific council
It is composed of all Integrated Members. It approves the annual report, the annual activity plan and the budget, and is responsible for the election of the Director. It also constitutes the forum where planning and discussion of strategic actions will take place. A representative for the PhD students is invited as observer to the Scientific Council meetings.

SCO – Science Communication
The science Communication and Outreach office (SCO) is responsible for the dissemination of the research and the ongoing activities of CBMA to society. In particular, this unit organizes initiatives that range from outreach activities and press and media relations to the organization of scientific meetings. SCO is responsible for the coordination of all communication platforms, including the website, social networks, newsletters and press and media relations. The team also manages the communication and approach to Industry. In parallel, this unit supports researchers in their activities, such as workshops, seminars and conferences organization. Furthermore, it also manages outreach activities, exhibitions, and school programmes and visits.
SFPM – Science Funding and Project Management
The Science Funding and Project Management supports CBMA Research in all stages of the submission of research project applications from internal to external funding. It also provides expert advice and assistance on grant related matters, including assistance in identifying opportunities and preparing grants applications, and supports the management of approved projects. It is under the supervision of the CBMA director and deputy director for Research.
LA – Laboratory and administrative
Laboratory and Administrative office will support CBMA laboratories and facilities at the School of Sciences and at the Institute of Science and Innovation for Biosustainability (IB-S). These will ensure the management of facilities and equipment, laboratorial safety procedures and management of biological collections. In parallel, it gives support to the administrative management of research projects, acquisition of goods and services and stock control. This unit is under the direct supervision of the CBMA director and the deputy director for Laboratory Science and Safety.
External Advisory Board
External Advisory Board
It is composed of three internationally renowned researchers. They will have access to the CBMA annual report and upon a yearly site visit will produce a written report advising on measures that will contribute to the continuous improvement of the Centre.
