CBMA researchers contribute to Erasmus+ BIP “Microbes in Focus” in Lyon

Three researchers from the Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA) and the Department of Biology at the University of Minho — Maria João Sousa, Paula Sampaio and Susana Chaves — participated in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Microbes in Focus – Modern Tools for Understanding and Engineering Microorganisms”, coordinated by Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France. As part of the academic team, the CBMA researchers contributed to online preparatory sessions and keynote lectures, sharing their expertise with students from across Europe.

Held in Lyon from 29 June to 3 July, the programme brought together students and academic staff from seven European higher education institutions and industry, offering an intensive week of lectures, laboratory practicals, computational workshops and scientific networking focused on modern molecular microbiology.

The University of Minho was also represented by four students, who joined colleagues from across Europe in this international learning experience.

The programme targeted Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD students, providing advanced training in cutting-edge tools and approaches for understanding, analysing and engineering microorganisms while fostering international collaboration and intercultural exchange.
