CBMA Participates in European Project for Sustainable Viticulture

The Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA) is part of VINNY, an international project led by the Centre for Microelectromechanical Systems (CMEMS) at the University of Minho’s School of Engineering. The project brings together 19 partners from 10 countries and has secured €8.3 million in funding from the Horizon Europe programme over the next four years. Its main goal is to shift from intensive to sustainable viticulture on a global scale, aiming to reduce agrochemical use by 50%.

VINNY also has a social dimension, establishing the “European Vineyard Network” with three Living Labs and a Lighthouse to promote sustainable practices among farmers and industry stakeholders, fostering innovation and sustainability in the primary sector.

In Portugal, the consortium includes UMinho’s CBMA, CMEMS, the Centre for Biological Engineering, and partners like ADVID – the Vine and Wine Cluster, InnovPlantProtect, and the communication agency LKCOM.
