Advanced Course in River Restoration and Ecosystem Services (May 25 – June 5, 2026)
The Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology (CBMA), University of Minho, is hosting the Postgraduate Advanced Course in “River Restoration and Ecosystem Services”, taking place from May 25th to June 5th, 2026, at the University of Minho.
This interdisciplinary course addresses current scientific and practical approaches to river restoration, focusing on how restored freshwater ecosystems can enhance biodiversity and generate valuable ecosystem services.
Participants will engage with a wide range of topics, including fluvial geomorphology and hydrology, remote sensing of fluvial systems, river connectivity and fragmentation, restoration techniques, ecosystem services modelling, economic evaluation of restoration projects, restoration and nature credits, policy and governance, nature-based solutions, and monitoring tools.
The programme combines theoretical lectures and case studies delivered by experts from academia, NGOs, and professional practice, providing participants with an integrated understanding of ecological restoration challenges and opportunities.
The course is organized by CBMA / IB-S / ARNET, University of Minho.
